Burdock and Diabetes: Combines?

Does this medicinal plant help to improve diabetes?

Bardana or burdock, the species Arctium Lappa and the Asteraceae family, is a medicinal plant with various bioactive polyphenols such as chlorogenic acid and its derivatives, inulin, and lignans.

Bardana is cultivated in Japan, Korea, and Bulgaria, as well as prebiotic properties given by Inulian, it inhibits the activities of α-amylase and α-glycosidase, ensuring a potential antidiabetic effect and weight loss.

There are at least 22 scientific studies in humans using this medicinal root, demonstrating an improvement in blood glucose in diabetic patients, weight reduction in obesity weights, and triglyceride reduction.

Despite the scientific evidence, there is no consensus on the daily amount of Bardana to be ingested per day to have these beneficial effects, ranging from 3-12g/day. The important thing is to use Bardana as a nutritional strategy to help in your treatment.
